League Two Betting Review

The 2012/13 League Two Season kicks off tomorrow ( Saturday 18th August ) with the promise of another intriguing season . Last year Swindon won the title with relative ease but the chasing pack consisting of Shrewsbury, Crawley,Crewe, Southend ,Cheltenham ,Oxford and Gillingham kept changing on a regular basis . This season Southend , Cheltenham , Oxford and Gillingham will again be in the mix with the addition of promoted Fleetwood , revitalised Rotherham and Bristol Rovers and relegated Chesterfield – all with a good chance of a top six finish.

League Two tends to be ignored somewhat by the bookies and can sometimes offer some good opportunities for the knowledgeable punter.

So who do the bookies think will be claiming the League Two title in May ?

Rotherham United are installed as clear favourites at 7/2 across the board – former Crawley boss Steve Evans has strengthened his squad and Rotherham certainly look like worthy favourites.

Second in the betting are newly promoted Fleetwood Town – 5/1 with most bookies but a slightly more generous 6/1 with BetVictor.

The odds then jump to 12/1 across the board for third favourites Chesterfield – Spireites fans will no doubt be lumping on at these odds , Chestefield won the Johnstones Paint Trophy last season against Swindon and were generally regarded as slightly unfortunate to be relegated .

Fourth in the betting are Bristol Rovers at 12/1 generally but 14/1 with BetVictor and Paddy Power . The Gas improved at the tail end of last season under Mark McGhee’s stewardship so many will view 12/1 as good each way odds .

Next in the betting come Southend at 14/1 ( 16/1 with Bet365 & BetVictor) and Oxford at 14/1 ( 16/1 with Bet365 & Paddy Power ) both in the mix last year – Southend with a very experienced manager in Paul Sturrock look good value as an each way bet.

The Livefootballscores team like the look of the odds being offered for two teams not previously mentioned  , Cheltenham at 25/1 across the board and Torquay at 20/1 ( 25/1 with Stan James ) . Both teams reached the playoffs last year – Cheltenham still have the impressive midfielder Marlon Pack on board , Torquay have added Swindon striker Billy Bodin to their squad after his successful loan spell last year.

So both Cheltenham and Torquay look good each way value at these odds.

It looks like another close run thing in League Two – don’t forget to follow the Live Scores at the LiveFootballScores site !
