League One Playoff Final – Betting Review

The 2011/12 League One season finishes this afternoon at Wembley Stadium with the Playoff Final Game between Huddersfield and Sheffield United .

This promises to be a tight game – two evenly matched sides , Sheffield United having been in the promotion spots for most of the season but stumblng towards the end and Huddersfield being in the promotion hunt as well for most of the season .

In the end the deciding factor may simply be down to either Manager’s striking options .

Danny Wilson has lost leading scorer Ched Evans and was unable to replace him due to the short notice of his unavailability . Simon Grayson has in form Scotland striker Jordan Rhodes at his disposal and with Rhodes in the 40 goal area this year this surely gives Huddersfield a slight advantage.

Danny will also be aware that he doesn’t have a great record in the Playoffs but maybe this is the year when his luck improves !

So what do the bookies think of this game ?

The win odds for both teams reflect the expected tight nature of the game ;

Huddersfield are installed at 8/5 with most bookies but a slightly better 7/4 with Boylesports and Stan James

Sheffield United are installed at 13/8 with the majority of bookies but a slightly more favourable 17/10 with BetVictor and BlueSquare.

The draw odds are 12/5 across the board – this seems to be the expected outcome in 90 minutes of play.

In other markets Jordan Rhodes is installed as a hot favourite in the “First Player To Score” market at 7/2 with most bookies but 4/1 with BetVictor and Ladbrokes. There isn’t a great deal of value in this market with the usual suspects Porter and Cresswell installed at 13/2 across the board.

The betting market with the most value appears to be the “Correct Score” market with odds of 5/1 offered for a 1-1 draw and 14/1 ( 16/1 at Ladbrokes) for a 2-2 draw.

Odds of 7/1 are available for a 1-0 win for Sheffield United and 15/2 for a 1-0 win for Huddersfield.

The LiveFootballScores team don’t see a great deal of value for punters in this game but will probably go for a 1-0 win for either team hoping to make a small profit.
