Championship update

Leeds played well away to Millwall (1-0). Ross McCormack netted the ball off Robert Snodgrass’s cross with Millwall failing to capitalise on the chance of an equaliser when Andy Lonergan saved Darius Henderson’s penalty, following a foul on Andy Keogh.

Watford gave Ipswich their 5th thrashing and are now unbeaten in 15 league and cup matches against their opponents. Jay Emmanuel-Thomas was on sparkling form, with Ipswich’s Michael Chopra failing to extend Ipswich’s lead in the first half, putting Emmanuel-Thomas’ cross wide. In the second half, Troy Deeney’s shot was fended off and Sean Murray fired off from the edge of the box. Poor defending from Carlos Edwards enabled Deeney to lob in the winner just before the end of the second half to take Watford to just six points outside the playoff places.

It was a draw for Nottingham Forest against Brighton (1-1) with Joel Lynch’s equaliser in stoppage time helping Nott’m Forest’s chances of reamining in the Championship for another season. Brighton now face a challenge to stay in the playoff places. Matthew Sparrow was sent off, after receiving two yellow cards. Forest got their equaliser shortly afterwards, following a spate of hitting the wood.
