Capital One Cup – Last 16 Betting Review

This week sees the League Cup – known as the Capital One Cup this season reach the Fourth Round with sixteen teams remaining in this season’s competition.

The five matches being played on Tuesday 30th October are :

  • Leeds United v Southampton
  • Reading v Arsenal
  • Sunderland v Middlesborough
  • Swindon v Aston Villa
  • Wigan v Bradford

The three ties scheduled for the following night , Wednesday 31st October are :

  • Chelsea v Manchester United
  • Norwich v Tottenham Hotspur
  • Liverpool v Swansea

With Chelsea , Arsenal ,Manchester United ,Liverpool and Tottenham still in this competition albeit fielding slightly weakened teams because of European commitments how do the bookies view the odds for the outright winner of the competition ?

Chelsea are installed as slight favourites at 9/2 with most bookies but a slightly more favourable 5/1 with Ladbrokes

Second favourites are Arsenal , installed at 5/1 generally but a more favourable 11/2 with Totesport and Betfred

Next in the betting come Liverpool and Manchester United both at 6/1 generally but odds of 7/1 are available for both teams with Totesport

Tottenham are next in the betting at 13/2 generally followed by Sunderland at 10/1 and Aston Villa at 14/1.

Teams from the Championship have fared well in this competition in previous tournaments as the Premiership teams continue to focus on European and Premier League glory – Leeds United are installed at 40/1 with Ladbrokes and Blue Square , this could well be worth an each way punt.

For followers of real outside chances 1969 League Cup winners Swindon are available at 100/1  and League Two Bradford are available at 500/1 .

The Livefootballscores team are of the opinion that a small wager on Tottenham or Sunderland is definately worth a consideration given the focus of some of their Premiership rivals  on other competitions.
