Capital One Cup Final – Betting Review

The League Cup – called the Capital One Cup in season 2012/13 reaches it’s conclusion at Wembley tomorrow with the final match between Premiership Swansea City and League Two Bradford City.

This will be the first match between the two sides in a major cup competition and has generated a great deal of interest due to League Two Bradford City’s giant killing activities en route to the final . This is only the second time in the history of the League Cup competition that a team from the fourth tier of English football has reached the final with only Rochdale achieving it previously when the competition was in it’s infancy in 1962.

Swansea fans will be also be delighted to see their team at Wembley – prior to this season Swansea had never progressed further than the Fourth Round of the competition .

Given the chasm between the Premiership and League Two this looks like a straightforward task for Swansea but this is a Cup Final and Bradford have shown great resilience to reach the final – so what do the bookies think ?

In the win market Swansea are clear odds on favourites across the board at 2/5 with the majority of the bookies .

The draw is priced at 4/1 across the board with a Bradford win generally available at 7/1 but a slightly more favourable 17/2 with Bet365 and BetVictor.

Unfortunately the Correct Score market offers punters little value as well – a 2-0 Swansea win in at 6/1 with most bookies but a better 13/2 with BetVictor.

A 1-0 Swansea win is available at 7/1 with BetVictor ( 6/1 generally) and a 3-0 Swansea win at 19/2 with BetVictor ( 8/1 generally available)

For the optimists a 1-0 win for Bradford comes in at 25/1 with BetVictor – again BetVictor offering slightly better odds than most of their rivals who have a 1-0 Bradford win priced at 18-20/1.

In the First Player To Score market Swansea top scorer Michu is the firm favourite at 3/1 with most bookies but a slightly better 7/2 with Paddy Power and William Hill.

Luke Moore is second favourite at 6/1 with most bookies but a better 13/2 at William Hill.

Itay Shecter and Pablo Hernandez follow in the betting at 8/1 ( BetVictor ) and 9/1 ( William Hill ) respectively.

For optimists who like an outsider Bradford’s Alan Connell is available at odds of 18/1 with Bwin – Connell scored some important goals for Swindon last season helping them win the League Two championship so he certainly knows where the goal is although Swindon fans still remember his missed opportunity ar Wembley last season in the JPT Final against Chesterfield !
